Virtuoso Vibes: Meet Jennifer
We’re thrilled to introduce the Vibe community to Jennifer, one of our newest instructors specializing in Yoga Fusion. Jennifer is a fitness enthusiast with a passion for teaching and showing others the benefit of moving their bodies. Prior to joining Vibe, she worked in collegiate athletics before leaving to pursue her passion in the health and fitness industry.
With her son being an Indiana University alumnus, and daughter currently attending IU, she’s become well acquainted with the Bloomington community. Now, Jennifer is a group fitness instructor at the Baxter YMCA in Nineveh, where she lives, and is a yoga instructor and the newly appointed evening studio manager here at Vibe Yoga Studio.
“I started practicing yoga as an adjunct to running, lifting, and eventually triathlon training for the stretching benefits,” said Jennifer. “I quickly noticed that yoga was so much more than stretching and developed a love for the mind and body connection.”
In search of training to become a certified yoga instructor, Jennifer joined the Vibe 200hr yoga certification course, and began teaching here this summer upon completion.
“Yoga has helped me navigate some of life’s toughest moments, including eight grueling weeks of weekly chemo and daily radiation which required me to wear a thermoplastic face mask that was bolted onto the table. Talk about using your breath! If it weren’t for Bob Marley singing, ‘Three Little Birds,’ and using my yoga mindset and breath work, I’m not sure I could’ve completed treatment.”
If you take her Yoga Fusion classes, which will be added to the schedule this month, you can expect encouragement to move in class as your body is comfortable, taking your own individualized approach to training.
“Yoga has become an integral part of my life, where I practice the physical aspect, asanas, as often as possible but use the breathwork every day.
“Vibe helped me discover that yoga doesn’t always need to be practiced in a hot studio and I have agency over my practice.”
"I’m excited to lead students through the Fusion series in a guided meditative state. Om, shanti, shanti, shanti" meaning "Om, peace, peace, peace."
Jennifer will be teaching on the fall schedule. To see this weeks schedule click here.
